Looking dejected and helpless, 36 years old Olayinka Oluwadare Folarin, a primary school teacher in Ibadan last week was arrested by the police for serial sexual abuse of three of the pupils under his watch is beginning to engage himself why he carried out the act.
Why did it take him such a long time to realise that what he was doing was not ordinary?
He told journalists at Iyaganku Divisional Police Station, Ibadan where he is being kept that what was happening to him was not ordinary.
“You can’t understand, what is happening to me is beyond me. Otherwise, why do you think I would engage in this foolish act? I’m married with a wife who doesn’t deny me sex on demand. I must be under spell. Some people should just think and reason with me. If God did not forsake some people, I know he will not forsake me. I am a changed person now.”
His reaction prompted a funny laughter when he challenged policemen and journalists interviewing him to throw the first stone at him if they had not sinned before.
“The person who has not sinned before should cast the first stone. Nobody is beyond demonic attack. I have been doing this for a long time. I feel terribly bad each time I did it but I could not stop it. Why don’t you find a way of helping me? Is this meant to expose me?” He asked rhetorically.
His comment may sound funny but the randy teacher might not be far from the truth in the real sense of it because if truly not under spell, how could somebody engage in such oddity?
He has been carrying out the shameful act secretly over a year ago at Calvary Heritage Kiddies Castle, Oluyole Estate, Ibadan before he was eventually caught.
A Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) where orphans and vulnerable children are catered for runs the school and hired him as teacher.
Pupils who have been subjected to sexual trauma on a weekly basis since 2013 by the teacher are said to be between ages 10 and 11. Two of the victims are orphans and have been living in the school since they were two years old.
The notorious teacher was said to have been using the school toilet as his operation base and instilled fears into the kids by threatening to kill them should they let the cat out of the bag.
In order to gain access to the pupils, Folarin, the father of four was said to have been applying lubricant on the girls.
Checks revealed that he was sacked from his previous employment in a school on account of rape allegation.
At the police station, he tearfully recalled how he used to invite the girls into the toilet and made them stand by the wash-hand basin before having canal knowledge of them.
He was exposed when some male
pupils found a teenage girl crying after an encounter with him. When the girl
was confronted with questions, she confided in them that she was sexually
abused by the randy teacher.
While the boys were planning to write a letter to inform the school management about the incident, Folarin got to know about their plans and tore the letter.
Not only that, he got the school authority to punish the boys after portraying them in bad light. This angered the boys and they prevailed on the girl to open up to their guardian, Temilolu Morohunkeji who manages the orphans home.
Morounkeji and Marcus Williams, a member of the Child Protection Network informed the police and got Folarin arrested. The accused confessed that he always used hair cream to lubricate the private part of the girls but denied using his organ to penetrate in between their legs.
However, contrary to his claim, medical check up on the girls at Adeoyo State Hospital by one Dr Ariwoola revealed that “semen was seen around their Vulva. Not only that their Hymen was not intact.
Insisting that it was not true when asked why his claims contradicted the medical report, he said, “I never penetrated them. I only used my manhood to rub their private parts. Yes, I used hair cream to lubricate my organ to stimulate myself.”
The teacher traced what he considered as root cause of his problem to his refusal to serve God pledging that as soon as he gets off the hook; he will hearken to the voice of God.
How soon that would be however depends on the duration of his trial at the court. Confirming the arrest, Oyo Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olabisi Ilobanafor said the suspect had confessed to the crime and would be charged to court.
He said the police had recovered the gel he uses to lubricate the affected pupils where it was kept in the school. He was sad to learn that the sexual abuse act had been on since 2013.
