ABEOKUTA— An Ogun State High Court sitting in Isabo,
Abeokuta, yesterday, remanded a 35-year-old man, James Babarinde, for allegedly
raping a 15-year-old girl in the middle of the night at Olorunsogo, Abeokuta.
The accused, who resides at Prison Quarters in
Abeokuta, is facing charges of conspiracy and rape.
The Police prosecutor, Jude Michael, told the
court that the accused forced his manhood into the private part of the victim
which made her bleed profusely and caused some damage in her body.
He said: “The offence is contrary to Section 32
(2) of the Child Rights Act 2006.
In his ruling, the judge, Olanrewaju
Majekodunmi, who went through the first information report against the accused,
ruled that the accused should be remanded in prison pending legal advice.
Majekodunmi, however, adjourned the case till
July 11, 2014 for hearing due to absence of witnesses.
