Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 200-Level student
of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, for allegedly raping a
six-year-old girl.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police
Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Haruna Mohammed, the suspect, Habibu Abdullahi,
who is a Quantity Surveying student at ATBU, Bauchi, was arrested at about
12:15 pm for defiling the little girl at the State Low cost Housing Estate,
Bauchi.
Abdullahi, a resident of Wunti Street in the state capital,
according to the statement, took advantage of having access to the victim’s
house, being her former school teacher.
He confessed to having illicit affair with the victim for
the second time, the first being after Eid-il-Fitir holidays in July, 2014.
The statement recalled that sometimes in March this year,
one Mr James Dantayi, an assistant headmaster of a primary school in Bauchi was
also arrested for having an illicit affair with his pupil in his office after
school hours.
Mohammed stated that the suspect would soon be arraigned in
court as soon as the police complete their investigations into the matter.
