Toke Makinwa, Toolz, Desmond Elliot, Others ready to Walk Against Rape on March 10th






 The fifth edition of the much awaited Walk Against Rape has once more gotten a nod from the Lagos State Ministry Of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Various celebrities such as  Kate Henshaw, Monalisa Chinda, Toke Makinwa, Desmond Elliot, Joseph Benjamin, Ini Edo, Omobaba, Emmanuel Ikubese (Mr. Nigeria) Gbemi Olateru Olabegi  Iyanya, Emma Nyra, Mercy Aigbe, Iyabo Ojo, Kemi Akindoju amongst others have also endorsed the walk and showed great interest to participate in the walk











Walk Against Rape Campaign is a special demonstration that brings together Mothers, Fathers, Guardians, Teachers, Youth Advocates, Social Activist , Actors, Actresses, Sports Men, Media Practitioners, Musicians, DJs, Comedians, Youth Organizations, Showbiz Personalities and student delegates from various higher institutions and Secondary Schools around Lagos state to  lend a voice to sexually abused persons (particularly women and children), and also  show their support to the course of bringing an end to RAPE in Nigeria where the number of Rape cases is on the increase.

According to the Project Coordinator, Esther Ijewere- Kalejaiye, “Our aim is to help in encouraging victims to speak out and reduce the stigmatization attached to the victims of sexual abuse and Rape as well as use “Walk Against Rape” as a platform to inform the society about the soaring scourge of sexual abuse especially as it relates to young girls and women in general. 







We intend achieving a lot more with the campaign this year as we would be having a three months sensitizing workshop College Acquaintance Rape Education C.A.R.E in partnership with the Lagos State Government and the Domestic and sexual violence response team (DSVRT)  for young people of secondary and Primary  school age to educate and sensitize them on Rape and encourage them to speak up. The workshop kicked off on the 18th of February 2015 with Desmond Elliot,   the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State; Mr Ade Ipaye and a host of other stakeholders in attendance

Aside the celebrities that are attending the walk, invitations have also be sent to Non-Government Organizations, Representatives from different Local Governments In Lagos State, Media Practitioners, Entertainment Stars (Musicians, Producers, Actors, Actresses, TV / Radio Presenters, Students Delegates (From Higher Institutons), secondary school students, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arms of various Corporate Bodies, and The General Public.

The Walk is scheduled to hold on Tuesday 10th of March in commiseration of the International Women’s Day, The venue of convergence is the Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church Ground, G.R.A by 8am.

Walk against Rape is organized by Rubies Ink Initiative since 2010 .
