For
raping a 14 year old girl, an
Igbara-Oke, Ondo State Chief Magistrate Court has sentenced an Okada
operator Seun Aderemi 30, to nine year
imprisonment with hard labour.
The rape
victim is a primary six school girl.
Magistrate Olusola Olowookere while delivering judgment
in the matter which was committed on June 27 this year gave the accused person
no option of fine.
Olowookere said that
the punishment would serve as deterrent to others who take advantage of minors.
The
magistrate said that it was evidently clear from the evidences given by the
witnesses and the protection witness A. Asani that the victim did not give her
consent to the illicit act.
According
to the magistrate, the evidences of the accused person and his child Ayobami
were contradictory.
Earlier,
the prosecution witness had told the Court that the accused person contravened
section 357 of the state criminal law of 2006.
Asani
said that the victim didn't give her consent to the rape hence the "the kind of maltreatment she received
from the accused person"
