"BREAKING THE SILENCE'" A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BOOK ON RAPE - HON. ABIKE DABIRI-EREWA

Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa is a member of the Nigeria Federal House of Representatives (representing Ikorodu Constituency in Lagos State) and currently the chairman of House Committee on Diaspora Affairs.
She has passed and sponsored a number of bills among which is the bill prescribing life imprisonment for rape and a minimum of 20 years for anyone involved or an accomplice in gang rape.
It'd be right to say "birds of a feather", as the recently unveiled "Breaking the Silence" caught her interest and this is what she had to say about the book...

"..."BREAKING THE SILENCE” is emerging at the right time because rape and sexual assault are on the increase and thus “BREAKING THE SILENCE” will hopefully help to forestall further cases of female sexuality violation.

There is no moral justification for RAPE because it is against mankind. It thus propelled me to sponsor a bill for an act to eliminate all forms of violence against person. The bill prescribes life imprisonment for rape and a minimum of 20 years for anyone involved in or is an accomplice of gang rape. Hopefully the senate will pass the bill and it will be eventually signed into law by Mr President.

This book covers various topics and teaching points for rape crisis among school, the home and the country at large.

I hereby express my deepest appreciation to the author of the book Mrs Esther Ijewere-Kalejaiye for her diligence and commitment against rape and female assault through various platforms especially the “Walk Against Rape”. This has helped to energise the society to emphatically say NO to RAPE.

Finally, it is my wish that this book will inspire all those who have been victims of RAPE and also help prevent further cases of rape and sexual assault among our young girls.

Hon Abike Dabiri Erewa"
